The BearingPoint Public Services Teams is currently searching for a Cognos 8 BI and Metrics Developer

- As a Cognos Developer, your role may include the following responsibilities:

• Review functional requirements and specification documents; interview end users to refine requirements.

• Research source data locations to validate requirements

• Mentor other programmers assigned to work on the project

• Perform the task designing, developing, and managing reporting/BI solutions to meet business needs

• Develop standards and techniques to support reporting and advanced drill down capabilities

• Serve as a technical resource for other members of the development team in ensuring data processing standards, guidelines and procedures are practiced. Provide production support for end-users of the system, including: training, responding to questions, resolving problems and providing ad-hoc reporting.

• Assist with data modeling and query tuning to achieve maximum performance while retrieving data from database structures.

• Develop and maintain operational and system level documentation.

• Assist development team with test planning, test conditions, and obtaining test data

Position-specific Requirements:

- 1+ years experience in OLAP server technology designing data models, metadata, cubes and drill-thru reports

- 3+ years of total Cognos experience (Series 8, Report Studio, Metric Studio, Framework Manager, Data Manager).

- 1+ year database optimization and SQL tuning experience, with Oracle 9i or 10g

- 1+ year customizing Cognos Connection and customizing report studio report styles

- 1+ year working with BI concepts and data warehousing concepts

- Completed a bachelor degree

- Due to the nature of the project, US Citizenship and the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance is required.

Position-specific Desired Skills:

- Experience in web design and enterprise portal management

- Experience maintaining web content

- Experience w/Active Directory

- Experience and knowledge of data architecture and data management concepts and methods

- Working experience in a DoD government agency

- Database optimization experience in Oracle 9i or 10g

- Attained Cognos Certification
